Healthcare
Bringing quality care closer to home has been one of my top priorities. I helped bring the TMU Medical School to Brampton, where it is now training local doctors and establishing primary care for up to 17,000 residents, and helped secure $2.3 billion from the province to transform Peel Memorial into a 24/7 hospital. We also welcomed the new Peel Manor Long-Term Care Home and partnered with Kay Blair Hospice to deliver Brampton’s first end of life care facility.
Safety
Keeping our neighbourhoods safe means giving our officers the resources they need to do the job. Since 2023 we have funded 785 new police officers and 95 new bylaw officers, a 75 percent increase, and we are building a new police division and station. We also brought in safer rentals city wide through licensing and escalating fines, holding bad actors accountable.
Transit
Getting Brampton moving has meant securing our fair share for transit. I helped secure $2.8 billion for a tunnelled four kilometre extension of the Hazel McCallion LRT into downtown Brampton, and we are investing alongside the federal government to electrify our fleet to all electric, zero emission buses.
Community
Great communities are built around great gathering places. We are opening a new Youth Hub at Century Gardens Recreation Centre, completed the full restoration and expansion of Chris Gibson Recreation Centre opening this fall, and broke ground on the new Embleton Community Centre.
Affordable Housing
Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. We delivered 67 units at Birch Place, including 50 affordable rentals plus transitional youth housing with supports, and 198 rental units at Basswood Senior Residences, Brampton’s first mass timber residential project. We also incentivized purpose built rentals that add safe, affordable supply to our city.
Provincial Advocacy
Brampton deserves a strong voice at every level of government. As Peel’s voice at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, I have advocated directly to the province for our fair share, and I am helping tackle homelessness by pushing for provincial action through AMO’s crisis report.
