Health Care First
Every family deserves care they can count on. I helped secure $2.3 billion for Brampton’s 2nd hospital at Peel Memorial and brought TMU’s Medical School and Integrated Health Centres here, giving 14,000 residents without a family doctor access to primary care. My focus now is getting the second hospital built without delay, planning a third, and delivering our cancer centre and more long term care. I will also continue my work to establish Brampton’s 1st hospice.
Moving People Forward
Getting Brampton moving means real choices in how you travel. I helped secure $2.8 billion to extend the Hazel McCallion LRT by tunnel into our downtown, and we’re replacing diesel with zero emission electric buses. Next, I’ll work to get the LRT built, deliver a downtown transit hub, partner with Metrolinx on the Queen Street BRT, and bring two-way 15 minute GO train service to our downtown.
By-Laws That Protect Neighbourhoods
Well enforced by-laws protect the safety and character of our neighbourhoods. On Council we brought in city-wide Residential Rental Licensing with escalating fines to make rentals safer and hold landlords accountable. Next, I’ll push to expand licensing, add automated licence plate parking enforcement, and raise fines for repeat property standards, parking, and noise violations.
Libraries for Everyone
A library isn’t just a building. It’s a place where residents of every age can learn, study, and connect. On the Brampton Library Board, I’ve supported the reconstruction of the new South Fletcher’s branch, smarter layouts, and the new digital catalogue and access card that brings our collection home. Now I’m helping advance three new branches, at Howden Recreation Centre, Embleton Community Centre, and at the downtown Centre for Innovation.
Safer Streets, Safer Neighbourhoods
Safety comes first. Since 2023 I’ve helped fund over 700 new police officers and 95 new bylaw officers, and we’re building a new police division and station along with a new youth hub at Century Gardens. Going forward, I’ll push for proactive road and traffic law enforcement guided by resident feedback and data.
Smarter Roads, Less Congestion
Congestion costs us all time and money. As Chair of Public Works and Engineering, I helped launch our new Advanced Traffic Management System, connecting signals citywide so they respond to real traffic in real time. Next, we’ll expand with smart signals and intersections to keep Brampton moving.
Value for Every Tax Dollar
Your tax dollars deserve real value. As the City Budget Chair for 8 years, I helped protect our AAA credit rating and held our city’s tax increases down while securing $5.1 billion in infrastructure funding and $716 million for local initiatives. Anyone can promise to freeze taxes, but in a fast growing city it takes discipline to deliver it. That’s why Brampton still has the most competitive property taxes in the Greater Toronto Area, and I’ll keep it that way.
A Home for Everyone
Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. On Council we brought forward 67 new homes at Birch Place and 198 units at Basswood Senior Residences, Brampton’s first mass timber project. I’ll keep growing that supply and press the province to work with the Region of Peel and help our homeless.
